§ 7.2. Implementation Policy

  • Once the Plan has been officially adopted, a policy of implementation must then be established. This policy should reflect Meriwether County's intention to carry out the land use recommendations set forth in the Plan.

    Specifically, such a policy for implementing these land use recommendations should outline the jobs to be done and specify the personnel best qualified to do them. Such a policy is recommended by CFAPDC.

    IMPLEMENTOR JOB TO BE IMPLEMENTED
    The County Commissioners, Planning Commission, Realtors, Developers, Civic Organizations, Merchants, Private Citizens, etc., should ..... support and promote the implementation of the Plan.
    County Officials should ..... adopt and enforce the legislation necessary for implementing the Plan (see Implementation Legislation). Moreover, they should review and revise the Land Use Plan every five years.
    Realtors and Developers should ..... cooperate with the Planning Commission and governmental officials in implementing the Plan—specifically, they should encourage "close in" residential development and help and encourage new development to seek the most favorable location in accordance with the Land Use Plan.
    Organized Civic Groups should ..... promote neighborhood "paint up" and "fix up" projects where needed, should promote the development and maintenance of a well landscaped park and picnic areas in the area designated and should help residents of blighted areas to organize for the purpose of improving their neighborhood.
    Merchants should ..... promote the "paint up-fix up" campaign in those areas where needed by negotiating to provide the paint and other materials.
    Private Citizens should ..... support governmental decisions relating to the promotion of the Plan.
