The main goal of a Future Land Use Plan is to achieve and maintain a suitable living environment for all the residents of Meriwether County. To reach this goal, the Meriwether County Board of Commissioners' office has enabled the Meriwether County Planning Commission to develop a growth policy that encourages residential, commercial, and industrial concentration so the provision of community services can be economically afforded to all residents of Meriwether County.

Additionally, the Meriwether County Planning Commission should encourage the highest and best use of land within the framework of a logical pattern of land use with utmost consideration of existing patterns.
