§ 3. RATIONALE

Latest version.
  • The future land use plan map was not created randomly. The suggested uses are the result of detailed study of the entire county as it is developing according to the demand which is being placed upon it by local growth, metropolitan impacts, and improved transportation facilities. The suggested location of the various types of land uses is essentially based upon logic as dictated by transportation facilities (both present and projected), all utilities, the demand for living accommodations by the wide range of people in the various socio-economic strata, the types of living accommodations (for example, apartments versus large acreage single family households) and the location of employment sources and services.

There are no grandiose or impractical projects suggested in this plan. The experience during the past 10—15 years strongly suggests preclusion of major speculative endeavors. Economic trends in the United States have proven to be far too unpredictable to warrant "grand plans" over an extended period of time.
